Dr. Alvin Johnson was an educator, editor, economist, author, and co-founder of The New School. In 1922, Dr. Johnson assumed the position of director of The New School for Social Research; he later became president, a position he held until 1946. Under his leadership, The New School grew into one of the nation’s most important centers of adult education and a leader in the social sciences.
The Alvin Johnson Society was established to provide much-deserved recognition to donors that The New School counts on each year. Alumni, parents, and friends who make a gift of any amount for five or more consecutive fiscal years* are automatically inducted into the society and remain members each year they make a gift to the university’s Annual Fund.
Whether you are making your first gift or have been a donor for 30 years, your support demonstrates your continued dedication to The New School and its mission of preparing students to understand, contribute to, and succeed in a rapidly changing society, thus making the world a better and more just place. Thank you.
Be part of this committed group of supporters by making your first gift today. Any amount makes a difference.
