Welcome!
Please complete each of the steps outlined below so that you are prepared for the start of classes.
Log in to MyNewSchool and Check your New School Email Account
You will receive instructions for logging in to MyNewSchool, the university’s web portal where you can access your university email account, financial aid information, and a variety of other online services. You can also use the portal to accomplish some of the steps outlined below.
All new students who have submitted a tuition deposit will receive instructions via email, which will be sent to the email address you provided in your application.
Once you receive these instructions, please log in and check your university email account regularly. While you are enrolled, all official university email communication will only be sent to your university email address.
Complete the Financial Aid Process (if necessary)
In order to receive financial aid, U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens must submit the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The New School’s code is 002780. Please be certain to read all comments listed on your Student Aid Report (SAR) and follow up if needed. Information on applying for financial aid and available financing options for all students can be found on the Student Financial Services website.
Check the status of your financial aid award letter
If you have applied for financial aid and have not received your award letter, make sure your file is complete by logging on to MyNewSchool or calling Student Financial Services at 212.229.8930.
Submit Immunization Form (required)
Your completed form must be received in order to register and attend classes.
All degree-seeking students, including international students, are required to submit the immunization form. Be sure to carefully read the instructions on the form. Please note: Online-only students are only required to complete the meningitis section. Submit the immunization form and required documentation by fax, email, or mail as indicated on the form and verify that you have read the material distributed by the New School on meningococcal disease. You can also read vaccine information provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For more information, visit the Student Health Services website.
Review Health Insurance and Waiver option (required)
All students are automatically enrolled in on-campus student health services and student accident and sickness insurance provided for The New School by University Health Plans. If you are otherwise insured, you must waive your coverage by submitting the online Student Health Waiver Form. For more information, visit the Student Health Services website.
Request Disability Accommodations
Students interested in requesting disability accommodations must submit the online self-identification form. For more information, visit the Student Disability Services website.
Complete mandatory online tutorials
All new students must complete mandatory online tutorials, including the Code of Conduct, the University Policy on Sexual Harassment, AlcoholWise (for first-time undergraduate freshmen), and Financial Aid Entrance Interview (for Federal Stafford loan borrowers). Students who do not complete the online Code of Conduct and Sexual Harassment tutorials will be contacted by the office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. For more information, visit the Student Rights and Responsibilities website.
Complete the Emergency Contact Form
All new students must complete the online Emergency Contact Form as soon as possible. If an emergency should arise, it may be necessary for the university to access the information provided on this form.
