WHAT: |
The Schools of Public Engagement at The New School and Haymarket Books welcome internationally renowned intellectual, linguist, and political activist Noam Chomsky in a lecture, "Noam Chomsky: On Power and Ideology."
Chomsky, 86, will give a talk relating to the persistent and largely invariant features of U.S. foreign policy — in the words of U.S. planners, “the overall framework of order” — and its intimate relationship with U.S. domestic policy.
Chomsky, a professor emeritus of linguistics and philosophy at MIT Institute, is widely regarded as one of the foremost critics of U.S. foreign policy in the world. He has published numerous groundbreaking books, articles, and essays on global politics, history, and linguistics. His recent books include the New York Times bestsellers Hegemony or Survival and Failed States, as well as Hopes and Prospects and Masters of Mankind. Haymarket Books is currently reissuing 12 of his classic books in new editions. |
