Design and Production
Design and Production creates the visual materials that support the university’s message, mission, and vision. Production also handles the printing and in conjunction with Purchasing, oversees the creation of the university's stationery/business cards, now available online.
Among the thousands of annual projects this office creates for the university and each of its schools are:
- catalogs and viewbooks
- posters and brochures
- advertisements
- signage, banners, and window installations

Information for New School Faculty and Staff
If you have a promotional publication you would like CEA to create, please submit a job request. The following details some of the standards and procedures you should follow when making or requesting certain materials.
VISUAL IDENTITY: For smaller projects that can be created on your own (i.e. flyers or office presentations), please consult the Visual Identity Program manual. By using this tool, you will save time and get more usable, practical, and attractive results that reinforce The New School's institutional identity.
For long-term success, the university's new graphic identity must be used consistently on all printed materials and in electronic media. Printed materials include flyers, advertisements, brochures, invitations, marketing materials, signage, retail merchandise, stationery, forms, and reports. Electronic media includes audio-visual presentations, videos, electronic advertising, and all pages of The New School's website.
LOGO: If you are creating a print or electronic media presentation that requires use of the LOGO or other special artwork, kindly submit an Art Request form.
FONTS: The two house fonts for The New School are ITC Franklin Gothic and Adobe Garamond Pro. All main external-facing documents and presentations are to be created with one or both of these type styles to help achieve visual unity across the university.
There are numerous variations of these fonts, some of which come free on computers, but none of which are exactly the university font. CEA has purchased licenses for all staff to have access to the correct fonts. If you do not already have the suite of fonts for ITC Franklin Gothic and Adobe Garamond Pro,
please email Steven Arnerich
