One of the great pleasures of being President of The New School is experiencing the energy and vitality that flows from our classrooms, studios and performance halls, and infuses the entire campus. That's what happens when you take a mix of innovative graduate schools, colleges and arts conservatories in the world's greatest city - and give them the space to experiment, share ideas and interact in unconventional ways. The quest for original ideas and the respect for democratic ideals led to our creation nearly 90 years ago and they're still among our most important traditions.
