Profile
In 2020 Nancy Roach was the recipient of a Distinguished University Teaching Award in recognition of her service to students and the university. Nancy has been teaching Integrative Seminar, the wonderfully collaborative freshman writing course in the First Year at Parsons since 2013. In addition, she has had the privilege of working 1-on-1 with students from across the university as a writing and time-management tutor at the University Learning Center since 2014. Over the years, Nancy has worked as a faculty mentor, leading a variety of workshops on dynamic classroom practices, reading strategies and creative methods to support student growth and development through writing. Before receiving her MFA in Nonfiction Creative Writing from the New School, Nancy worked for more than two decades as a documentary film editor, producer and director. She continues to edit and consult and has collaborated with award-winning independent filmmakers and more traditional outlets such as PBS, HBO, ABC, Frontline, American Masters and Bill Moyers. Nancy’s own fiction writing focuses on her favorite subjects: obsession, false assumptions and heroic failure.
