| Online Sexual
Harassment Training Program
The University has implemented online sexual harassment
training software by New Media Learning called, "Preventing
Sexual Harassment", to supplement its current training practices
on sexual and discriminatory harassment.
This online program is comprehensive, user friendly
and can be accessed 24 hours per day/365 days per year from any
computer with internet access by logging on to http://training.newmedialearning.com/psh/newschoolu/.
The entire training program can be completed in 60 minutes. For
those who do not have access to a computer, a dedicated terminal
is available in the Human Resources Department located at 80 5th
Avenue, 4th floor. The New Media web site gives clear instructions
for completing the training program, lists an email address for
Human Resources where questions and concerns can be emailed in confidence
and contains copies of all relevant University policies and procedures.
Upon completing the program, a Certificate of Completion is issued
and the results (pass/fail) are mailed to the Human Resources Department
for filing.
Over the next three months, we are asking that all
administrative staff and faculty voluntarily take this training
at their own convenience. After February 2004, the training will
become mandatory and must then be completed by the close of the
spring 2004 semester. Prior to the conclusion of the voluntary compliance
period, we will issue further directions for completion of the program
by the June 2004 deadline.
Any additional questions related to the software should
be directed to Keila Tennent, Assistant General Counsel, at x5432.
Revision of the Sexual Harassment and Discrimination
Policies and Procedures
Posted on this Web site are the revised procedures
for claims based on sexual harassment and other forms of discriminatory
harassment covered by Federal, state and local laws, including disability
discrimination. These revisions were made to streamline the existing
procedures, to recognize the enhanced centralization and uniformed
decision-making by the University with regard to its review and
determination of these claims.
Specifically, both the Human Resources Department
and Student Affairs have well-trained and experienced professionals
who now take a greater role in the management of situations that
may give rise to claims of discrimination as well as the swift review
and resolution of formal discrimination claims once they are presented.
In addition, the University recognizes that streamlining
its discrimination procedures is necessary to address advancements
in Federal law. Such advancements place greater emphasis on the
need to have clearly written policies and procedures combined with
effective training on such policies as well as a swift and effective
response to claims of discrimination.
Please contact the Human Resources office 212.2295432
x237, if you have any questions regarding the revised sexual
& discrimination policies and procedures.
