The University Learning Center (ULC) is dedicated to providing academic support to The New School’s diverse student population through one-on-one tutoring sessions, workshops, and more. Our primary goal is to help students become stronger and more independent
learners, so that they succeed in achieving their academic goals. Here is a short video introduction to our services.
Individual tutoring sessions are offered in the following areas: general and graduate-level writing, computer programming and software, math and economics, ESL services, oral presentations, time management, and ADHD coaching.
During the fall and spring semesters, students can book their own online and in-person tutoring appointments using our scheduling platform, WCONLINE. There are a greater number of online appointments available, but you can filter to see in-person availability. If you do not see an in-person or online session at a time that you need, please request an appointment here. If you would like to meet with a tutor regularly, we can also set up a weekly or bi-weekly session for you.
For online sessions, click the “Join Your Appointment” button in the appointment window on WCONLINE. In-person sessions take place at 66 West 12th Street on the sixth floor (the space directly across from the elevators).
For tips for approaching the semester, we've put together a learning strategies guide to help you make the most of your
courses. We also offer videos with tips for preparing for your online classes, time management,
being engaged and staying connected, and learning to learn.
We are available to answer any questions you have and look forward to working with you and helping you in any way that we can!
